Supplemental Grants

The United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro has announced supplemental grant investments to nonprofit organizations for projects promoting the arts or an art form. Funding for the supplemental grants is provided by the North Carolina Arts Council with matching funds from the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation of Greater Greensboro. Supplemental grants total $25,080 to the following organizations and projects:

  • Center for Visual Artists for the Very Special Arts Festival
  • African American Atelier for the African American Arts Festival
  • Touring Theatre of NC for Family Business
  • Music for A Great Space for the Manhattan Piano Trio
  • Piedmont Triad Initiative for Community Arts to promote a arts Triad-wide
  • City Arts for the program Moving Words
  • Eastern Music Festival for the Piedmont Jazz & Blues Festival
  • Community Theatre of Greensboro for Periphery
  • Greensboro Youth Council for Artistry Awards
  • NC Dance Project for participation in a  drumming and dance workshop
  • Bel Canto  Company for the program Appalachian Echoes
  • NC Storyfest, Inc. for the Storytelling Festival at Greensboro
  • Greensboro Ballet for Swan Lake

Teacher Art Grants

Teacher Art Grants are designed to emphasize arts in education by: enhancing and strengthening integration of the arts into core curriculum; broadening offerings for K-12 students; encouraging collaboration between artist, arts organizations and schools. Thanks to support from the Michel Family Foundation and the Deluxe Corporation Foundation, the UAC awarded $9,987 to 5 schools. This years recipients include:

  • Claxton Elementary School for a live performance by David Holt
  • Hampton Academy for the Masks of the World project
  • Peeler Open  Elementary School for the Peeler Traveling Musician's program
  • Waldo C. Falkner World IB PYP School for the Falkner Speaks with Fabric PYP Peace Project
  • Guilford County Schools Newcomers School for Walls of Hope (mosaic/mural) and Books form the Beginning to End projects

Recipients for Strategic Partner Investments are assessed on performance in the areas of programming and artistic excellence; service to the community; financial and organizational stability; and leadership. 2007 recipients include:
