Sternberger Artists Center
The United Arts Council currently owns and operates the Sternberger Artists Center at 712 Summit Avenue in Greensboro. built in 1926 by Sigmund Sternberger, the Center was donated in 1971 from the Sigmund Sternberger Foundation. Originally, the home housed the offices and member agencies of the United Arts Council. Today, the Sternberger Artists Center thrives with 90-100% occupancy with a variety of artists including writers, painters, photographers and more. Carolina Theatre
Built in 1927, the historic Carolina Theatre is a landmark in Greensboro. Located at 310 S. Greene Street, the theatre began as a vaudeville theatre. In 1976, after financial hardhsip, the United Arts Council led the community effort to raise over $550,000 to save and refurbish the theatre. Today, the theatre serves as a full-scale performing arts facility, hosting a variety of local, national and international entertainers. In 2006 The Carolina Theatre gained independent ownership from the United Arts Council. The mutually agreed upon separation allows for greater fundraising efforts by the Carolina Theatre and improved services to the Greensboro community. The United Arts Council proudly continues to support the Carolina Theatre as a strategic partner.

The Greensboro Cultural Center
Home to 14 nonprofit arts organizations, the Greensboro Cultural Center is filled with activity year round. The four level facility, located at 200 N. Davie Street in downtown Greensboro, hosts 5 visual art galleries, pottery and dance studios, visual art studios, music rooms and multiple administrative offices. Open to the public 7 days a week, the Greensboro Cultural Center is owned and operated by the City of Greensboro. Throughout the year, the Center hosts a variety of special events including the summer movie nights and multi-cultural festivals. The United Arts Council is proud to call the Greensboro Cultural Center home. |
