Why Support the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro?

Support to the UAC is critical to sustain and grow our arts community and to develop our community-at-large.

• INVEST IN THE ARTS COMMUNITY TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR EVERYONE

A gift to the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro is an investment in the arts community as a whole. The gift helps advance the arts altogether through our grants and services, helping to ensure that our community has: quality, dynamic entertainment and cultural offerings accessible for all; arts in education; a flourishing base of active, professional artists; arts as a part of nurturing our well-being and quality of life; arts are all around us in our everyday and in our public places.

• BE A VOICE FOR THE ARTS IN LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

A gift to the UAC helps the Council unite the local arts community to advocate for the arts among city, county, state and federal legislators. Just in the last 2 years, we have succeeded in: maintaining the city of Greensboro’s in-kind support of the arts through the Greensboro Cultural Center. Rent, maintenance and utilities are offered to approximately 20 arts organizations in the Greensboro Cultural Center; increasing the General Assembly’s investment in the NC Arts Council by nearly $2.5 million, which directly impacts the arts in Guilford County. The UAC plays a powerful, effective role in developing and executing a common legislative agenda.

• PROMOTE LONG-RANGE PLANNING FOR GREENSBORO'S ARTS & CULTURE INDUSTRY

A gift to the UAC enables us to serve an important arts leadership role that the community expects of us. Through on-going citizen engagement and input, the need is continually reinforced for the UAC to serve a lead role in coordinating, convening, promoting and connecting the arts. Along with this, the UAC is a constant champion for visioning and long-range planning for Greensboro’s arts and culture industry. We work together with many partners to make this happen.

• PROMOTE & SUPPORT ARTISTS, ARTS ORGANIZATIONS & TEACHERS

A gift to the UAC enables us to serve as a critical resource for the arts in Greater Greensboro. Greensboro is a vibrant and dynamic city with many arts and cultural offerings. The UAC fulfills an important role in serving as a central resource and referral point for the arts through these initiatives and more: developing an inventory of arts organizations and artists; working with partners to establish a comprehensive arts calendar; serving as a core knowledge base of Greensboro’s arts offerings; and working with our arts providers to effectively package and promote the arts.
