AWARDS

The United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro is pleased to recognize outstanding individuals throughout our community each year.  We support five award programs each year; see nomination deadlines for each award.

   

Arts in Business Award

The Arts in Business Award honors businesses (profit or nonprofit) in the Greensboro area for their leadership, commitment and vision to provide outstanding support for the arts. The award is presented by the United Arts Council of Greater Greensboro, the Greensboro Merchants Association and the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce.  The recipient will be recognized at the 22nd Annual Small Business Awards Luncheon during the Piedmont Triad Business Showcase in May, 2008.

O. Henry Award

The O. Henry Award is presented in partnership with the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce at their annual dinner, usually in January, and recognizes an individual for extraordinary contributions to arts and culture.  Nominations for the 2009 O.Henry Award are due by November 30, 2008 at 5:00 pm.  O. Arts Education Teacher of the Year

This award is to recognize outstanding arts educators in private or public schools in Guilford County. To be eligible, a nominee’s primary role must be as an arts educator. Arts educators are those in the visual or performing arts including drama, music, dance and visual art. Winners will be announced in Spring 2008. Arts Education Teacher of the Year Nomination Form

Betty Cone Medal of Arts Award

The Betty Cone Medal of Arts Award is presented to an artist who has made an extraordinary contribution to the community and achieved excellence in their field. The recipient will be recongnized at the Vanguard Annual Dinner in late October, 2008. Betty Cone Medal Nomination Form
