Huawei's latest smartphone offerings, the Pura 90s Pro and Pro Max, are set to make a global impact, marking a significant shift from the company's previous strategies. The unveiling of these devices comes with a focus on high-end specifications and a unique design language, catering to a wide range of consumers.
The Pura 90s Pro and Pro Max share a lot of similarities in terms of hardware, but with some notable differences. The Pro model boasts a 6.6-inch display, while the Pro Max features a larger 6.9-inch screen, both protected by the second-generation Kunlun Glass. This glass is designed to reduce reflections by up to 70% and is also claimed to be 16 times more scratch-resistant and 25 times more drop-resistant than regular glass. The displays are LTPO panels with a 1-120Hz refresh rate, offering a smooth and responsive user experience.
One of the most striking features of the Pura 90s Pro Max is its camera setup. It introduces the first 200MP RYYB sensor in the industry, a significant leap from the previous year's models. This sensor, paired with an f/2.6 lens and 4x optical zoom, provides exceptional image quality. The main camera also includes a 50MP LOFIC sensor, which enhances dynamic range, and a 40MP ultra-wide camera. Under the hood, both phones are powered by the Kirin 9030S, a new chip from HiSilicon. This marks a departure from the Kirin 9020 used in the previous generation. The phones support 5G connectivity, a notable change from Huawei's previous global offerings, and include eSIM support. They come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage, running HarmonyOS. The battery capacity is 6,000mAh for both models, but EU regulations result in a lower capacity of 5,270mAh for units sold in the Union.
The Pura 90s Pro Max stands out with its 200MP telephoto camera, while the Pro model has a 50MP telephoto camera. The Pro Max also features faster charging, with 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, compared to the Pro model's 66W and 50W. The phones are rated IP68 for submersion and IP69 for water jet resistance, ensuring durability.
In terms of design, Huawei has paid attention to detail, painting the metal frames to match the colorful gradients of the rear panels, adding a pop of color to the more vibrant options like Orange Ocean and Blush Gold. The phones are available in various colors, catering to different preferences.
